My name is YOGI, and I’m a portrait street photographer based in Tokyo, Japan.
Let`s me tell you a little bit of my background, I was born and raised in Gunma Japan, at the age of 15th, I flew to USA.
I had the opportunity to study at a Christian high school in Ohio, USA. Being an international student had its challenges, but my classmates were incredibly kind and supportive. Their encouragement inspired me to continue my education in the U.S.
After graduating from high school, my interest in fashion design led me to pursue a college degree in the field. During my studies, I discovered a deep passion for graphic design and photography—both of which eventually became my profession.
As of 2024, I work within the global industry as a procurement specialist while still having a passion for other creatives, And as being a portrait photographer in Tokyo is one of the passions I have now. It’s been an incredible journey, and I’m grateful for the opportunities I’ve had along the way.
Through this blog, I’d like to share what it’s like to live in Japan today.
In addition to my work, I’d like to highlight some “must-see” spots for travelers visiting Tokyo. Depending on where you live or stay, life in Japan can be quite different, but there’s always something exciting to discover—from the neon-lit streets and unique characters of Tokyo, to the traditional neighborhoods just a few hours’ drive from the city.
Living in Japan today is an adventure, and even I find myself lost from time to time. Through this blog, I hope to connect with others who have experienced similar moments of culture shock, or who have found themselves in situations that felt awkward or unfamiliar.
In the end, I believe it’s these unique moments that truly define the experience of living in Japan.
Sincerely,
YOGI
